My name is Kaecey McCormick, and I'm writer and visual artist located in the San Francisco Bay Area. My poetry and prose has found a home in many online and print journals including the Baltimore Review, Poet Lore, The Pinch Journal, Clockhouse, Jabberwock Review, Pedestal Magazine, Pine Hills Review, One Sentence Poems, On the Seawall, and Sky Island Journal as well as my chapbooks, Sleeping with Demons (2023) and Pixelated Tears (2018).

 

I served as poet laureate for the city of Cupertino, California (2018-2020), am the winner of the 2023 Connecticut Poetry Award and other poetry prizes, was a finalist in the 2024 Cow Creek Chapbook Prize, and currently teach poetry and fiction through The Writers Studio. I've enjoyed support from the Good Hart Artist Residency as the writer-in-residence, where I took part on panels and gave readings during the Harbor Springs Festival of the Book.

Visual art is a natural extension of my imaginative side, helping fuel my creative writing. I work intuitively, from a place of intention, and change my tools and materials when it feels right.  

 

When I'm not writing or making art, I'm hiking in the beautiful hills and mountains of Northern California, spending time with my family, or curled up in my favorite chair reading a book.
