Description: Please join us as we share and discuss COMFORT POETRY & PROSE during our first-ever Early Week Evening Creators virtual meeting! I’ll start us off with a short presentation, then we’ll take turns sharing the poetry and prose that comforts us the most. Come prepared with a poem or prose piece/excerpt to share if you’d like. Virtual Lunch Hour Language Artists – FREE!

Description: Please me in a lunch-hour poetry workshop where we’ll explore a different form: The Bop. We’ll warm up with a creative exercise, look at a few examples, then dive into writing! NO POETRY-WRITING EXPERIENCE REQUIRED! You don’t have to be a poet (or even be a poetry fan!) to benefit from this workshop. Trying this form will help ignite your creativity across the board!

April 2020 – National Poetry Month!

Description: Celebrate National Poetry Month with past Cupertino Poet Laureate and creativity coach Kaecey McCormick in fun, free workshop where you’ll learn how to turn someone else’s words into your poetry. Using popular song lyrics and other unexpected texts, we’ll create poetry & our own works of art. No creative writing experience necessary! Bring a copy of your favorite song lyrics or use the texts and songs provided. 

Who: Teens in middle or high school

Creativity Workshop: Focus on Form – The Golden Shovel

learn a new form of poetry writing – back by popular demand at a new location with the Poetry center san jose!

Description: Back by popular demand – The Golden Shovel! Whether you’re an accomplished poet or just starting out, you’ll leave this fun-filled workshop with something new! By reading and discussing examples and doing lots of hands-on practice, we’ll explore an emerging form of poetry, the Golden Shovel. Using other poets’ works as inspiration, you’ll mine your memories and brainstorm with the instructor and fellow attendees to craft an original work of poetry. No creative writing experience necessary!

Who: Adults; High School Teens ($30 Public; $15 PCSJ Members)

Community Poetry & Prose Night: Celebrate Creativity + Open Mic!

Celebrate creativity and national poetry month with community readings by local poets and writers!

Description: Celebrate National Poetry Month with past Cupertino Poet Laureate and creativity coach Kaecey McCormick and other local writers as they share their work from the recently published community anthology, Celebrate Creativity. Bring a copy of a favorite poem (original or one written by another writer) to share during the open mic portion of the evening or simply come to enjoy the beauty of poetry and prose. The event will include a dedication of the anthology to the Cupertino Public Library.  

Who: Open to the public (parents of young children should note comments under FAQs on the Eventbrite page)
