Motivation Monday: Your Writing Inspiration is Here!

I've got a pretty solid writing practice. But last year, I hit a point where I felt completely stuck in my writing. No matter how hard I tried, the words just wouldn’t come. It was frustrating, to say the least. But then, I came across this quote by Maya Angelou:

"You can’t use up creativity. The more you use it, the more you have."

Those words stopped me in my tracks. I realized I didn’t have to wait for writing inspiration to strike—I just needed to start. Even if it was messy, even if it felt small, every effort was a step forward.

So, I opened my notebook, found a simple writing prompt, and wrote. Just a few sentences at first, but it was enough to break the silence on the page.

The next day, I did it again—this time using a memory. The day after that, I wrote about a photo I’d stumbled across. Slowly, those daily moments of creativity turned into a habit.

Before long, I was crafting flash pieces every day, letting prompts and moments of inspiration guide me. Those small, seemingly random pieces started forming connections, and now I’m working on a collection I’m truly proud of.

If you're struggling to keep your creativity flowing as January marches on, you're not alone. Every writer faces moments when the words just won’t come. That’s why I created the Inspiration Workbook, and I’m thrilled to share it with you this week!

This free writing inspiration workbook is packed with motivational quotes (like the one that helped me), creative challenges, reflection prompts, and practical next steps to reignite your writing practice. Whether you’re looking to try something new, reconnect with your creative spark, or just need a little encouragement, this resource has you covered.

Inside, you’ll find:

✨ Quotes to inspire your writing journey.

✨ Challenges to stretch your imagination.

✨ Prompts for reflecting on what drives you.

✨ Tips to keep going when writing feels hard.

Here’s an easy way to start:

Flip to the Creative Writing Challenges section and try the “Sensory Memory” exercise. Think of a favorite memory and describe it using only sensory details—sights, smells, sounds, textures, and tastes. Let yourself experience that moment on the page, and see where it leads.

It’s not about waiting for inspiration—it’s about showing up, trusting the process, and building momentum one word at a time.

What helps you stay motivated when you're stuck? Let me know through my site or try one of the exercises in the workbook and share how it worked for you in the comments!

Happy writing,
