This National Poetry Month, I'm thrilled to share that I've been accepted as the Writer-in-Residence at the Good Hart Artist Residency! I'll be in residence in Harbor Springs, Michigan from September 11 to October 2, 2024 during the Harbor Springs Festival of the Book, and I'm excited to take part in that celebration in addition to having dedicated time to focus on a project that holds deep meaning for me.
Beyond providing dedicated time and space (and food!) for me to bring my manuscript to fruition, the residency places an emphasis on community engagement, something near and dear to me. I look forward to connecting with the local community while I'm there, facilitating workshops, taking part in readings, and fostering conversations about literary art and community.
Those of you who know me also know the role the natural world plays in my life and art. I draw inspiration from the landscape and world around me, and I'm full of excitement at the prospect of this journey to the Tunnel of Trees across the street from Lake Michigan, one of the beautiful Great Lakes. While much of my project involves revising existing pieces and settling on the narrative arc, as someone who writes daily, I know spending time in this part of the world will spark my creativity and help me generate new material, both for my project of choice while in residence and future endeavors.
I invite you to join me on this adventure as I share my residency experience through updates, musings, and snapshots on my blog. Your continued support and encouragement mean the world to me, and I hope to share with you not just the progress of my project but also the inspiration and insights gleaned from this amazing opportunity.
In the meantime, happy reading and writing!
